I am Legend

I thought this movie would be a lot like every other "end of the world" movie. It wasn't. It focused more on the psyche of the main character. It was fun to watch his survival techniques. The suspense was great in this movie especially when he encountered "the hive" of creatures. The dog added a special touch to the movie. The dog kept him sane in his solitude.

Paprika

The animation in this movie was very cool. I could watch this movie again. It wasn't like anything I had ever seen before and I like that. Paprika was pretty hot...for a cartoon. I really like the techno soundtrack music...it was prolly my second favorite part after Paprika.

Minority Report

This narrative of this movie seemed very original to me. The idea of seeing a crime before it happened and being able to stop it was entertaining. This is great action film but it also made you think too. Tom Cruise played the part well as a pre-crime advocate who had lost his own son to abduction. The film utilizes flashbacks to help us understand Tom Cruises background and why is so passionate about pre-crime. The narrative moves along nicely with many hubs and satellites to keep you into the movie.

The Shining

This movie is a great psychological thriller. As far as I'm concerned Stanley Kubrick is a genious. The mise en scene is outstanding in this film. It creates an erie, creepy mood. The different camera shots really get you involved in this movie. I don't know of any movie that has better tracking shots. This film looks great...it is ahead of its time in picture quality...can't quite put my finger on it but the colors are very vibrant and pop out at you.

A Beautiful Mind

A Beautiful Mind is....a beautiful movie. This is one of the best psychological disorder movies I have ever seen. Russell Crowe plays the part amazingly. Who would have thought a scizophrenic could be so lovable. Jennifer Connelly is beautiful and amazing in her role as a wife to a schizophrenic. The soundtrack is also beautiful and brings you along with the stroyline.

Heat

This is my favorite heist movie. The gun shootout scence is so crazy but still believable. The shootout sounds so real as if you are really there. Heat is the first time Deniro and Pacino appear on screen together and they don't let down.

Water

This film brought some major social issues in India to the forefront. I didn't realize there were so many widows that need to be cared for. It nice to see that there is finally some change occuring and that is being more widely accepted for widow to remarry.

Blood Diamond

I thought Leo Dicaprio was amazing in this film. I thought he did a great job with the South African accent. The cinematography was breathtaking, especially the shots from the helicopter. Edward Zwick never fails when it comes to the cinematography...just look at his work in The Last Samurai.

No Country For Old Men

I loved this movie. There really was no soundtrack to this movie but I think that helped you get more in touch with the environment. You could hear the rushing of the wind and every movement of the characters. This helped depict Anton and his quiet but deadly demeanor. It also pretty amazing that he could still seem so evil even with his hideous haircut.

Chinatown

This film has a very deep plot so it is hard to do it justice by watching it just once. We see most of the film from the point of view of Jake Gittes who is played by Jack Nicholson. I was very impressed by Nicholson's performance. The story has many different elements of suspense and suprise. You never quite know where the story is going as it draws you in almost engulfing into life of Gittes as he unravels clues and motives behind the antagonists plans. The narrative behind this story is both politcal and personal. The two are inseperably woven together and bring forth the true life character of people and the relationships that propel people to do good and/or evil. There are almost always to stories happening. The story of solving the crime and the relationship between the characters that are involved in the crime. This makes for a film that never has a dull moment and this is what I believe makes it a Neo-Noir film.
